Over the last four year the St. Louis Chapter of EWGA has presented its “But I've Never Played Golf” series of on-the-course clinics designed to help women interested inplaying golf for the first time get over their fears and intimidation and actually get out on the golf course and have fun.
“But I've Never Played Golf”, or “NPG”, is three sessions of no-pressure, all fun, low cost golf outings that will make the new woman golfer sufficiently comfortable with the etiquette, rules and procedures of the game of golf thatthey will overcome their fears and come out and play.
The first session will cover the basics including where to park, appropriate golf attire, how to reserve atee time, what “reserving a tee time” means and identifying the different parts of the golf course. You will get to play with other new golfers on a Par 3 course where we will introduce you to the rules and etiquette of the tee and the green. We will even explain what that means!
During the second session, we will play on a longer course where you will learn golf terminology and more about the rules of golf and about how different golf clubs work.
In the last session you will play an actual round of golf and complete your knowledge of golf's rule's and procedures.
Golf is a game of many, many hurdles. But it is a very forgiving game to play if you come to it with aspirit of goodwill and humor. With this approach it will give you a lifetime of enjoyment and reward. All you have to do is clear the first hurdle. EWGA will help you clear this first hurdle.
